How to get glowing skin for Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. So, whether you’ll be spending the day with your partner or with your best girl friends, follow our tips on how to get glowing skin in time for Valentine’s Day.

Exfoliate to reveal brighter skin

Exfoliating your skin regularly helps get rid of dead skin cells that can build up during the cold months and make the skin look dull, and reveals brighter and younger looking skin. In addition to this, exfoliating gives your skin a smoother finish, which reflects more light, giving you an overall more radiant complexion. Exfoliating is especially important when the weather is colder, as the skin tends to become dry. Use our brightening Rice Flower Polish after cleansing your skin, to gently scrub away any dry or flaky patches and achieve bright, dewy skin.

Keep your skin well hydrated

Your skin can’t glow if it’s dehydrated. Once you’ve exfoliated and removed any dead skin cells, give your skin the moisture it craves by massaging our Skin Brightening Serum into the skin, followed by a moisturizer.  It’s important to choose a moisturizer that’s tailored to your skin type, whether that is dry, oily, normal or combination skin. Apply a moisturizer as part of your morning and evening skincare routines – opting for a slightly richer moisturizer at night when your skin is busy repairing, restoring and regenerating itself. If your your skin is particularly dry and dull, treat yourself to a hydrating face masque that will penetrate deep within the skin 1-2 times a week. Also, don’t forget to keep your lips moisturised by applying some lip balm – it is Valentine’s after all!

Up the glow with dewy makeup

Once you’ve taken good care of your skin, you can make your skin look even more dewy with the power of makeup. Rather than opting for a matte foundation and powder, try using a foundation that gives a more satin or dewy finish, and set your foundation in place with an illuminating face powder that gives your skin more radiance. Apply a cream highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and brow bones for added glow, and a small amount on your cupid’s bow, just above the lips, to make your lips appear slightly fuller.

Eat healthy, look healthy!

We all know about the numerous health benefits associated with drinking water. However, did you know that keeping yourself well hydrated is also excellent for your skin? 15% of our skin is made up of water, so drinking the recommended 2 liters of water a day can drastically improve the health of your skin. On the other hand, alcoholic and caffeinated drinks can dehydrate the skin, and sugary drinks can result in an even duller complexion. Eating foods that are naturally high in protein, such as fish, nuts, white meat and vegetables can help your skin look soft, supple and radiant as this promotes the creation of collagen in your body – also making your skin healthier and less prone to wrinkles!
